AskTime Terms of Service
Terms in plain words (short version)
Last updated: November 2, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Nguyen Hoang ("AskTime", "we", "us") about using the AskTime app and our services. Please read them with our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect and how we use it. By creating a family or using AskTime, you agree to these terms.
1. Who can use AskTime
- You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of each child whose device you set up, or have their parent's or legal guardian's permission to set it up.
- AskTime is offered in the United States only.
- A child does not have an AskTime account. A child uses AskTime only in Child mode on a device that a parent set up.
2. What AskTime does, and what it doesn't
AskTime helps a family agree on screen-time limits: a daily limit, bedtime, apps that are always allowed, and a way for the kid to ask for more time. On iPhone and iPad it uses Apple's Screen Time system; on Android it uses Android's accessibility and device-administrator features that the parent turns on.
- AskTime is a helper, not a guarantee. Limits depend on Apple's and Google's systems and on the permissions you keep turned on. A device can be offline, reset or changed, and a determined kid may find a way around a limit. We warn you when protection stops working, but we cannot promise that every limit always applies.
- AskTime never blocks calls or emergency features. Phone calls, emergency calls and the system apps a phone needs stay available.
- AskTime sets limits. It does not watch your kid. It does not read messages, see photos, record websites or find location. Do not use it, or try to make it do these things.
- AskTime is not an emergency service. If a child may be in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
3. Your account and your family
- You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your account and your phone secure. You are responsible for what happens in your AskTime family.
- The parent who creates a family is its owner. The owner can invite other parents with a one-time link. Another parent can see the kids and approve requests, chores and rewards, but only the owner can change rules, add or remove kids and devices, invite or remove parents, or delete the family.
- The Parent PIN protects settings on the kid's device. Keep it private and change it if your kid learns it.
- Please give us accurate information and keep your kids' details (name, age range) up to date.
4. Kids' devices
- Set up Child mode only on a device you are allowed to manage, for a child you are responsible for.
- Tell your kid that AskTime is on the device. AskTime always shows the kid which rules apply, and the kid can always ask for more time.
- When you remove a device or delete your family, AskTime removes its limits the next time that device connects.
5. Premium and payments
- Some features need AskTime Premium, a subscription you buy through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store, not AskTime, charges you, and its terms apply to your purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings; it stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- If Premium ends, nothing is unlocked: the rules already on your kids' devices keep working, and safety features (such as alerts when protection is off) stay free. Some Premium settings can no longer be changed until you subscribe again.
- We may change prices or what Premium includes. A price change applies only after the store tells you about it, as its rules require.
6. Chores, stars, rewards and allowance
- Stars and rewards are a family game inside AskTime. Stars have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold or exchanged outside your family.
- "Allowance" in AskTime is only a list that helps you remember what you owe. AskTime never holds, sends or receives money.
7. Notes and family chat
- When available, family members can send short notes and chat messages inside AskTime. You and your kids keep any rights you have in what you write. You let us store and deliver it only to run the service.
- Family chat is end-to-end encrypted: we cannot read it. Notes are encrypted on our servers. Both are deleted on the schedule described in the Privacy Policy.
- Don't use AskTime to send anything unlawful, threatening or harmful. A kid or parent can report a message, and we may act on reports.
8. Things you must not do
- Don't use AskTime on a person who is not your child or a child in your legal care, or on an adult without their knowledge.
- Don't try to break, overload, reverse engineer or get around AskTime's security, or access another family's information.
- Don't use AskTime in a way that breaks the law or Apple's or Google's rules.
9. Our service and your content
- We own AskTime, its design and its software. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your family while you follow these terms.
- We keep improving AskTime and may add, change or remove features. If we stop offering AskTime, we will tell you in advance where we can.
10. Ending your use
- You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings › Delete account). If you own the family, this deletes the family. Other parents are removed from it and keep their own sign-in account, which they can delete in the app. If you joined someone else's family, it deletes only your account.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts kids or others at risk. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why.
11. Disclaimers and limits on liability
To the extent the law allows:
- AskTime is provided "as is". We don't promise that it will always work, be error-free, or stop all screen time.
- AskTime cannot stop every way around a limit. It works within what Apple's Screen Time and Android's accessibility features allow. A kid may find a way around a limit that these systems do not block.
- We are not responsible for losses caused by things outside our control, including Apple's or Google's systems, the device, the network, or how someone uses a device.
- Our total responsibility for any claim about AskTime is limited to the greater of: the amount you paid for AskTime in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. Some states do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.
12. Disputes
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where federal law applies.
Talk to us first. Before filing a claim, please email privacy@asktime.app so we can try to resolve it.
Arbitration. If we can't resolve it, you and we agree to settle any dispute about AskTime by binding arbitration, one person at a time. The American Arbitration Association (AAA) runs it under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The hearing takes place in the county where you live, or by phone or video. Either of us may instead bring a claim in small claims court, if it qualifies.
No class actions. You and we may bring claims only for ourselves, not as a plaintiff or class member in a class or group action.
You can opt out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days after you first agree to these terms. Email privacy@asktime.app with your name, your account email and the words "Arbitration opt-out". Opting out does not change anything else in these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the "Last updated" date and show the new version in the app. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using AskTime after that, the new terms apply.
